History of the Port of Cardiff

by Edgar L. Chapell

A reprint, with a new preface, of a book first published in 1939 to mark the centenary of the opening of the city's first modern dock. Chappell traces Cardiff's maritime history from medieval times to his own day in a highly readable book that is still the most detailed published study of its subject. Much of the earlier material has stood the test of time, while his account of the port and its industries in the 1930s is itself now an important historical record. The book is also notable for its excellent photographs.

Edgar Chappell is also the author of Historic Melingriffith
